How to Choose Pearls
There are eternal things that will never be out of fashion. Little black dress, elegant smell of expensive perfume, dangerously high heels and a rope of pearls make from an average woman a Woman from a capital letter. At least once in her life every lady takes some banknotes in her hands and goes to the jewelers to get her first peal. But as she is not experienced, she can be deceived by quirky merchants, so before getting those decorations, you have to learn at least something about choosing them.
The Difference between Cultured and Artificial Pearls
Pearls can be divided into 3 groups natural, cultured and artificial. Natural pearls are those that were created by God or Mother Nature it is up to you to decide who is better is this case. But in any case they were made without human hand and cost really a lot. The other group is formed by cultured pearls. Cultured and artificial pearls are not the same. They are differed as for their look, usability and the price of course. Cultured pearls are those that were grown by a person, but still they were produced in the oyster. Thus some small ball is put in the shell where the process is the same as it is in nature. The oyster highlights pearl and thus the ball is covered with that substance. Then the pearl is taken from there and it is ready for selling. Artificial pearls are created not in the oyster but just with the jewelers hands. They cost not much. Be attentive not to get the artificial pearl for the price of cultured ones.
Five Factors to Consider
While choosing your first rope of pearls you have to pay attention on 5 important factors. They are size, luster, color, shape and surface. Lets consider any of them separately.
As for the size, as you have understood, the bigger the pearl is, the more it will cost. As usual people get the pearl about 7 millimeters in its diameter. But it is your choice and the limits of your bank account that can dictate you what size of cultured pearls to choose.
Luster is the sign of quality. The clear and bright glance of pearl means that the pearl is of the highest grade. It is good when you can see your reflection in the pearl.
Pearls can be of different colors. White pearls are the most widespread and they cost less than colored (grey, blue, pink etc). But colored pearls are expensive only if they are natural. I they are colored artificially, on the contrary, the pearl becomes cheaper.
Shape of an average pearl is round and it cost more than the sample of some irregular shape. But sometimes if you have some unusual shape of the pearls, it looks even more original.
Surface of the pearl you get must be smooth. Any kind of damage you can notice will make its price less.
